Sketchnote Exercise #1 & Blog Post #4
We're going to combine our first sketchnoting exercise with our 4th blog post. After working with Mike Rohde, we're going to begin tackle sketchnoting by practicing lettering and building our visual symbol library.
In this first exercise you're going to CREATE A SKETCHNOTE COLLAGE titled A DAY IN MY LIFE.
Begin by visiting the Noun Project website. Explore the Noun Project and do some searches to explore the different type of visual symbols designers have created and shared to celebrate the world's visual language.
Now you are going to visualize a day in your life using symbols and sketchnotes.
Break your day into morning, afternoon, and night. Illustrate each part of your day with a MINIMUM of 10 icons each that define that time of day for you.
For example, my morning consists of coffee, turning on CNN to check out news I need to know, feeding the cat, etc. I would represent my morning with icons inspired by those found on the Noun Project.
This is a great exercise to build your icon library and practice sketchnoting.
When you've completed your collage, take a picture or pictures of it and post them on your blog.
